How can I buy your work?

My work is released here on my website in small batches periodically. Shop updates are announced via Instagram and my email newsletters, which you can subscribe to here.

Certain items can prove very popular and, as I only make one-offs or limited quanitities, can sell out quickly. If you are keen to purchase something, I advise noting the launch time and completing the check-out process as swiftly as possible. A single item can be held in more than one customers basket at the same time and will only be secured once payment is complete. If you are successful in purchasing a piece/s then you will receive a confirmation email immediately.

Can I buy in-person?

Yes, but not often. Keep an eye out for news of any markets or other events. I usually take part in a minimum of two Christmas markets in South Wales each year.

Can I pre-order or commission a custom piece?

No, sorry, I do not offer the option to pre-order or reserve items. This helps to keep things fairer for my customers and means less administration for me.

I also do not accept commissions or custom orders. This gives me the freedom to pursue the designs I most enjoy and more flexibility to adapt my work schedule around our family life.

Do you do wholesale?

Unfortunately I do not currently have the capacity to fulfil wholesale orders for shops and galleries. I am considering processes to change this in the future, so please feel free to contact me to note your interest.

How many people work for Skratch Studio?

Just me, Kate! I design and make all of the items (aside from pin-badges). I also do all of my own social media and marketing, most of the photography, all website editing, accounting, packing and shipping, basically everything that goes into the running of a small business. I should probably ask for/hire help, but most of the time I'm happy working things out for myself and enjoy the solitude of my studio.

Do you offer gift wrapping?

All items are neatly wrapped in tissue paper and sealed with stickers as standard. I'm happy to include a handwritten note if you'd like your order sent direct as a gift.

Are ceramic items dishwasher and microwave safe?

Generally they should be fine, but handwashing is always preferable for handmade items to ensure longevity. Never put items with gold lustre decoration in the microwave or dishwasher.

How would you display your decorative plates and plaques?

I have some displayed on dressers or propped up on shelves, but if I'd want to hang them on the wall I always use adhesive plate hanger These super strong little yellow discs are available to buy online in a variety of sizes.

Do you hold classes/workshops?

No, not at the moment. Perhaps I will do down the line, but at the moment I prefer to focus on my own practice.

DELIVERY & RETURNS

UK Postage

All parcels will be dispatched within working 3 days.

Deliveries to the UK will be made using Royal Mail Tracked 24, apart from prints and some smaller items, which may be sent via regular 1st Class post where appropriate.

If you are local to me (Llanblethian, Vale of Glamorgan, Wales) and would prefer to collect your order in person you can use the code COLLECT at checkout.

International Shipping

International parcels are sent using Royal Mail International Tracked service, which take approximately 3-5 working days for Europe and 5-7 working days to the rest of the world. Prices to your destination will be calaculated at checkout. If you'd prefer to use an alternative service, please contact me to make arrangements.

All local taxes and import duties are the responsibility of the customer.

I'm sorry to say that shipping to the EU and Northern Ireland is currently suspended due to the December 2024 GPSR (safety regulations). It demands product testing, compliance certification and a 'responsible economic operator' in the EU or NI, which is beyond the means of a business as small as mine. Hopefully there will be changes made in the near future to remove these regaultions for artists and makers.

Packaging

I make every effort to reuse and recycle as much packaging as possible. I use whatever wrapping it takes to get your precious purchase to you in one piece (especially as courier companies will not compensate me for breakages in transit), but rest assured at the centre of parcel will be your chosen item/s gift wrapped in tissue paper. I only buy card and paper packaging (recycled when possible), so any plastic or polystyrene packaging included has been re-used from items sent to me.

Returns

I hope you will get just as much joy from your Skratch Studio piece/s as I get from making them. If, however, you aren't entirely satisfied with your item, I can accept returns within 10 working days of you receiving them. Please contact me at [email protected] to arrange the return. For a refund items must be returned unused, undamaged and in original packaging. Postage costs are non-refundable and will be deducted from your total refund.

Breakages

In the unlikely event that your purchase arrives damaged or broken, please contact me within 2 working days and send photographs of the damage to [email protected]. As all items are unique and made in small quantities I may not be able to replace like-with-like, but I will do my best to rectify the issue and a refund will be made if necessary.
